Cast to Sonos: play VibeBeats on Sonos from Chrome (alternative)
Play VibeBeats on your Sonos speakers today with the Cast to Sonos Chrome extension: install it, pin it, open VibeBeats in Chrome, pick your speaker and press play. VibeBeats is direct-licensed background music for cafés, restaurants, bars, gyms, retail stores, salons, spas, clinics and hotels. No music licensing/PRO fees (*No separate public-performance music licence needed for VibeBeats music.) Other music sources may still require licensing. The AI DJ reshapes each playlist through the trading day.
Looking for native playback? The VibeBeats Sonos Beta is now available. See Sonos for Business.
TL;DR: Cast to Sonos is a third-party Chrome extension that sends the audio from a Chrome tab to the Sonos speaker or room you choose. It's an alternative way to play VibeBeats on the Sonos system you already own: install it from the Chrome Web Store, pin it, open VibeBeats in Chrome, pick your Sonos speaker and press play.
What is the Cast to Sonos Chrome extension?
Cast to Sonos is a Chrome extension published by casttosonos.com. Its Chrome Web Store description is short and accurate: "Cast your tab to a Sonos device." It isn't made by VibeBeats or by Sonos.
Here's how it works, based on the store listing and the extension's own manifest (version 1.21 when we checked on 19 October 2026):
• It captures one browser tab's audio. The extension uses Chrome's tab capture permission, so whatever is playing in the tab you cast is what plays on Sonos. • It signs in with your Sonos account. You authorise it through the Sonos website; the developer says it never sees your password and stores only a temporary access key. • You choose the system and the speaker. The pop-up lists the Sonos systems on your account, then the speakers and groups in each one. • It works alongside the Sonos app. You can play, pause and change the volume from the extension or from the Sonos app. • It has a free plan. The developer also sells an optional Premium upgrade for higher-quality stereo audio. That's billed by the extension's developer, not by VibeBeats.
Why use Cast to Sonos
The native VibeBeats Sonos Beta is now available and plays VibeBeats natively on your Sonos. Cast to Sonos is an alternative if you prefer to play from a Chrome tab:
• No Household ID to send us. You sign in to Sonos inside the extension and pick a speaker. • No new hardware. It uses the Chrome browser on a computer you already have at the venue. • The same VibeBeats music. You're casting the VibeBeats tab, so the vibes, day-lists and AI DJ sets you already use are what play on Sonos.
How it fits with the full Sonos integration
There are two ways VibeBeats reaches Sonos:
• Cast to Sonos (alternative): VibeBeats plays in a Chrome tab on your computer and the extension streams that tab to Sonos. Keep the tab open while the music plays. • VibeBeats Sonos Beta (native, now available): start the 14-day free trial, then add your Sonos Household ID in the VibeBeats app under Profile → Sonos, and VibeBeats plays natively on your Sonos without a browser tab. The setup steps are on the Sonos for Business page and in our Sonos for Business beta guide.
What you need
• A computer with the Chrome browser (the extension is installed from the Chrome Web Store). • A VibeBeats account. Start your 14-day free trial, no card required. • A Sonos system that's switched on and shows up in your Sonos app, plus the Sonos account login for it. • A working internet connection on the computer.
How to play VibeBeats on Sonos with Cast to Sonos
Install the extension. Open the Cast to Sonos listing on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome. Pin it to your toolbar. Click the puzzle-piece Extensions icon at the top right of Chrome, then click the pin next to Cast to Sonos so its icon is always one click away. Open VibeBeats in Chrome. Go to app.vibebeats.ai, sign in and start a vibe, day-list or AI DJ set playing in that tab. Connect Sonos (first time only). With the VibeBeats tab active, click the Cast to Sonos icon. Click Authorize, sign in on the Sonos website and allow access. The extension may also ask whether you want to start its Premium trial or continue on the free plan. Pick your Sonos speaker or room. Open the Cast to Sonos menu in the pop-up, choose your Sonos system, then the speaker or group you want the music in. Press play. Click the play button in the pop-up. VibeBeats now plays on that Sonos speaker, and you can set the volume from the pop-up or the Sonos app.
The extension remembers the system and speaker you picked, so next time it's just: open VibeBeats, click the icon, press play.
Troubleshooting Cast to Sonos
Do my computer and Sonos need to be on the same Wi-Fi network?
Cast to Sonos doesn't search your local network for speakers. It lists the Sonos systems linked to the Sonos account you authorised and streams the audio over the internet. So what matters is that the computer has a working internet connection and the Sonos speaker is switched on and online in your Sonos app. If a speaker drops off your Sonos app, fix that first; the extension can't see it either.
"No systems found" or "No speakers found"
The extension shows "Maybe your speaker is off?" with these messages. Check that the speaker is powered on and visible in the Sonos app, and that you authorised the same Sonos account the venue's speakers are on. Then reopen the pop-up and use the reload button.
It won't connect because something else is playing
Cast to Sonos can't take over a speaker that another app is using. If you see "Failed to join session" or a message that another service is already playing, pause that app (Spotify, YouTube, the radio and so on) in the Sonos app and try again.
"Your Sonos session has expired"
Reconnect to Sonos from the pop-up by clicking Authorize again and signing in on the Sonos website.
"Network error" or "Connection to the server was lost"
The audio travels through the extension developer's streaming servers, so a patchy internet connection will interrupt it. Check the computer's connection, then press play again.
"You cannot stream from a page starting with chrome://"
You clicked the icon while a Chrome settings or new-tab page was active. Switch to the VibeBeats tab first, then open the extension.
The music stops or switches tabs
The extension casts one tab at a time, and starting a cast on a new tab closes the previous stream. Keep the VibeBeats tab open, don't cast another tab over it, and stop the computer from going to sleep during trading hours.
There's a short delay before the music starts
That's normal for streaming from a browser. Give it a moment after you press play.
Still stuck?
Reinstall the extension, or right-click the Cast to Sonos icon, choose Options and use Clear data to reset it, then connect again. For extension problems, contact the developer at support@casttosonos.com or through the Chrome Web Store support page. For anything about VibeBeats itself, email hello@vibebeats.ai or visit the support centre.
What about the music licence?
Cast to Sonos only moves audio from a tab to a speaker; it doesn't change what the music is licensed for. VibeBeats music is directly licensed for commercial playback, so there's no music licence needed for VibeBeats music. Other music sources may still require licensing, so if staff cast a personal Spotify or YouTube tab to the venue's speakers, that music isn't covered by VibeBeats. See how music licensing works and music licensing explained.
Not on Sonos, or want a backup? You can also connect VibeBeats to almost any speaker with Bluetooth, AirPlay, Chromecast or a line-in cable.
